Backpacking the John Muir Trail 2011

This is a throw-back post to a trip I did in 2011. The world famous John Muir Trail (jmt) that runs a beautiful portion of the Pacific Crest Trail (pct).

This was an incredible experience! It’s the perfect challenge for backpacking newcomers and one of the most rewarding per step experiences on the planet. When I backpacked this in September 2011 it was at the tail end of one of the wettest years in history for California. The passes were mostly covered in snow and the waterfalls were incredible

I took all these pictures with a potato so please excuse the quality.

Right on the other side of Donahue Pass, this area was incredibly beautiful. Running water everywhere.

Taking care of blisters

First long distance backpacking trip, feet suffered from my newbness. It looks worse than it is, they didn’t bother me much but what did bother me was the aroma my socks and shoes got.

Feet blisters fixed

All better. Sports tape! Don’t backpack without some.

Posing on Forester Pass. This was early in the morning, we had camped right before the pass. We hiked over 27 miles and up over 7000 feet this day. We didn’t stop till we are on the summit of Mt. Whitney around 1am in the morning.
